About Display Firmware Update Tool

The Display Firmware Update Tool is a utility to assist with updating the firmware in large-screen Sharp and NEC LCD displays, Sharp AIO dvLED displays, and some models of desktop NEC LCD displays.

Main features:

Automatically locates networked Sharp and NEC display models and determines if newer firmware is available.
Details of the changes between the installed firmware and the latest version are listed.
Automatically downloads and verifies the latest firmware. Firmware can be downloaded for off-line use if needed.
For models that can be updated via LAN, the update process is almost fully automated and the progress and estimated remaining time is shown.
Up to 20 displays can be updated via LAN simultaneously. Other displays are queued until an update slot becomes available.
For models that are updated via USB, the correct firmware is copied to a USB drive and instructions on how to update are displayed.

This application always downloads the latest version of firmware for each display. If it is ever necessary to revert to an older version of firmware, it must be performed manually via a web browser.

Supported Operating Systems

This version of Display Firmware Update Tool is supported on 64 bit versions of Microsoft Windows 10 and 11

Installing Display Firmware Update Tool requires an account with administrator privileges.

Required LAN Ports

The following ports are required in order to access and update a display:

TCP port 80

TCP port 7142

UDP port 5320

Please make sure that network firewalls, routers etc. do not block these ports.

Supported Display Monitors

Display Firmware Update Tool supports most recent large-screen display models. Support for a detected display will be shown within the application.

Support and Troubleshooting

Please follow the instructions in the application.

The latest models of Sharp large-screen displays support two different communications protocols: N-Format (NEC) and S-Format (Sharp). The display must have N-Format selected.

For models that support enabling and disabling of individual Network Protocols, the following protocols must be enabled:

Automatically change the display's Power Saving Mode to Normal mode during the firmware update if needed. This setting change will allow the display to communicate fully when in a power save state.
32 bit versions of Windows are no longer supported. Supported versions are now Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11.
Improved support for Windows 11 UI.
